That game...

The following is something that shocked me when I heard about it. The main tittle of it pretty much gives it away. It's the CHOKING GAME, "Space Monkey, Blackout, Rising Sun, Knockout, Passing Out Game, Dreaming, Fainting Game, Flat Liner, Black Out and Funky Chicken"(Chocking Game). Those are the many names this "game" has been called.
Basically, kids have been experiencing this game to get "high". Kids have been choking them selves and their friends just for this."Many children don’t see the harm in playing the choking game...They are often fascinated by the prospect of getting high without using drugs" (Chocking Game). Sure there not using alcohol or drugs but their killing each other choking one another as a game to experience this dream like feeling.

Here are the signs and symptoms:
"Severe headaches, Raspy breath, Bloodshot or red eyes, Belts, ties, etc. found around the house, marks on the neck, and an unusual need for privacy"(The Choking Game).
The real terrible thing is that kids have died because of this so called "game". "All children who play the game (either with friends or alone) can lose consciousness within one minute and die in as little as two to four minutes" (Chocking Game)

Out playing with friends...

They were out their playing with their friends. A pretty normal day I guess. When that one kids brother offered them a smoke. That guy was so much older, he knew better right? He should have. "By age 18, almost 12 percent of all young people are illicit drug users" (coaching international). They were thirteen and ten.
Not knowing this statistic they didn't take it. That irresponsible man couldn't make them. They do know. They also knew that when they were kids they pretended to smoke. It was cool for them. The "TV people" did it, movies, TV shows. They made it cool. It looked like it couldn't harm at all. But they knew better now. The TV that's were everything is glamorized for the young, for almost everyone. You see the rebel tough guys smoking on TV giving a message that this is cool. The message that says, "hey look at me i am cool i smoke, i drink, this is cool".

She has known it...

She has known it for the longest time. Since a toddler to a young lady. She would see her father sitting down on the big squeaky brown rolly chair beside the table where the glass of Budweiser beer would sit. That was his favorite brand.

She recognizes that smell, that drink he always managed to finish. How can someone have so much room for all that? It was crazy for that little girl. To think that all that money spent on 6, 24 packs of beer per day could of helped for something in the future... Something worth for. He knew he had to stop someday. Kept telling himself. Kept telling her. ]Kept promising. Kept failing her. Kept disappointing her. why couldn't he stop! Why? She got tired of telling him but not tired of hoping the best for him..." Approximately 27 million Americans either use illicit drugs regularly or are "heavy drinkers." Of these almost 16 million are estimated to need immediate treatment" (coaching international).

Encounter

The girl saw him sitting there then laying down. The man was asking for someone to please buy him some coffee. He had the dollar. Would he really trust just anyone to go by him that coffee? To take that dollar and do what he asked. Trust just anyone and hope they won’t run off with the only cash he might of had? For a cup of coffee?

Was he lazy? Was he not capable to walk without tumbling over? Did the owners of the coffee shop not let him purchase that cup of coffee because he did not look good?If so why?

Why wouldn't he go for himself?

But why would he trust just anyone? Could it be the intense need to get something other than beer inside his aching stomach?

“come we can go together, it’s crossing this street”, the girl said to the man.
“no no…”, the man responded.
Was he afraid? Or just lazy. What was stopping him?
What was that girls motive for trying to help him? Why didn't she just go for him? Did she want to make him stand up and do it for himself? How did he end up this way? Whatever the reason, that man needed help.

But who can be helped if they don't want to be helped or accept that they need help?

That man was surrounded by many yet he was alone. Everyone went on with their lives not caring for anyone who lives in these conditions. A man stared at him, a woman, school kids stared.
That girl came up to him and she asked with a smile on her face, " Do you still want that cup of coffee?" She felt happy that she was going to do something for that man.
The man looks up at her and says," Do you have a dollar? So I can buy a beer."
That girl seemed so confused with the fact that just a while ago this man needed, wanted that cup of coffee. She didn't understand that mans change of drink. He was actually going to choose that beer over a cup of coffee.
She said she didn't have money with the most convincing face. To think, there were many more people passing by in cars or walking probably staring at those two talking. Possibly terrified or confused of why someone would talk to a stranger. But not just any stranger, a homeless and a drunk. That at some time wanted something other than beer in his stomach. Wanted a cup of coffee in which minutes later had changed his option to liquor.
